My new favorite term I learned from the Heart Math Institute is “psychophysiological coherence.” At the Heart Math Institute they do a lot of experiments trying to better understand the relationship between the heart and the rest of the body. They also focus heavily on the power and influence of our emotions. They have ways of monitoring biofeedback such as heart rate variability, temperature, skin conductance, respiratory rate, brainwaves and muscle tension that accurately indicate the level of stress an individual is experiencing. Using these various biomarkers they are able to determine a frequency for the mental, emotional and physical well-being of an individual.
When these three frequencies are in balance with one another they call it psychophysiological coherence. This is basically a fancy term for inner harmony. This is the optimal state of functioning for a human being. When we are in a state of inner balance we are efficient, calm, productive, creative and happy.
When we are in a state of psychophysiological disruption, or out-of-balance with ourselves, we are much less productive and it is very difficult to feel happy and well. (There is an excellent Spirit Science video that gets into greater detail about this.)
This spread is a great way to achieve a state of psychophysiological coherence. Awareness is powerful. By simply becoming aware of the answers to these questions you are able to reflect on your problems clearly and directly. Part of what causes people so much stress around the holidays is that we are scrambling around trying to make everyone around us happy, while forgetting to do the same for ourselves (and also forgetting that it is nearly impossible to bring happiness to others when we are miserable).
So if putting up decorations, spending money and shopping for gifts, making travel plans, or any of the usual holiday stressors are keeping you from enjoying this magical season consider doing this reading! If you have a deck of cards try doing the reading for yourself, or if you prefer you can hire me to do it for you. Either way, it’s a good idea to get an honest look at the state of your mind, body and soul so that you can bring your frequencies into balance and operate at optimal levels this season!
Happy Holidays. Peace & Namaste,
